With the order for the new plate leveller from Salzgitter Mannesmann Grobblech GmbH, we are strengthening our position in the heavy plate sector and underline our core expertise.

The furnace was upgraded to process slabs up to 600mm thickness. Main parts of the revamp were new slab pushers, a new discharging machine and a new reinforced skid system. 

In just four weeks, we dismantled and modernised half of the existing furnace. As a result, its capacity has been increased by 50%

The contract to replace the plate mill stand at Erdemir marks an important first step into the Turkish market.

In 2018, BUMA Engineering & Anlagenbau GmbH took an important step towards establishing an international presence. Our first appearance at the METEC and the partnership with tripleS opened the door to international clients and build the foundation for our global growth.

In 2015, company founder Dipl.-Ing. Rudolf Buchegger initiated the handover of management of BUMA to the experienced long-term employees Harald Krenn and Klemens Höglinger.

The year 2013 brought another major project. The comprehensive revamp of the DUO mill stand at Böhler Bleche GmbH. With this project, BUMA was once again able to demonstrate its expertise in modernising and optimising existing systems, significantly enhancing the long-term plant efficiency and productivity.

From 2012 to 2015, BUMA was working intense to deliver a state‑of‑the‑art heavy plate rolling stand for voestalpine Grobblech GmbH. This mill stand, with a maximim rolling force of 8,000 tonnes, highlights BUMA’s expertise in developing high‑performance, innovative solutions that meet the demands of modern industry.

Between 2007 and 2011, a major project was undertaken to fully modernise the finishing mill at voestalpine Stahl GmbH. BUMA was responsible for refurbishing the seven mill stands, which form the core element of the production line. This modernisation made a significant contribution to improve the customer’s production capacity and product quality.

In 2006, BUMA relocated to its current office – a milestone that marked the company’s growth and set a clear strategic direction. With its strong infrastructure and the possibility to continue expanding, the new office provides ideal conditions for meeting future challenges.

2003 was an important year for BUMA, as it marked the first time the company designed an entire roughing mill stand in 3D for voestalpine Stahl GmbH. This pioneering achievement signalled the beginning of a new era in engineering for the steel industry.

With the development of the first Turn-Key plant in 2001 for voestalpine Schiene GmbH, BUMA demonstrated its ability to successfully complete highly complex projects within remarkable short timeframes. In just eight months, an innovative tilting table – including a newly developed roller guide – was implemented.

Four years after its founding, the first major project - a locking mechanism for backup rolls - was successfully completed in 1999.

The story of BUMA began in 1995, when Dipl.-Ing. Rudolf Buchegger founded the company. With his extensive expertise and many years of experience in the steel industry and in special‑purpose machine engineering, he laid the foundations for the business.
